The Caterham 7 Sports Car

When the visionary designer Colin Chapmen first set out to design the Lotus 7 he had lightness, speed and agility at the forefront of his mind. What he could not of known was that he was about to create a timeless design classic, which still has the ability to embarrass supercars costing over ten times as much. The first Lotus 7 was released to the public in 1957 and cost £1000 pounds to buy new. However the simplicity of the design meant that Lotus could also offer the 7 in kit form where it would cost half as much. Chapman's constant aim throughout all of his cars at Lotus was to lightness, ensuring that the cars he produced had supreme agility and road holding. As Lotus grew in stature Chapman realized that the company would need to shed its kit car image if they were ever to be considered a serious supercar manufacturers and so, in 1973, the designs and rights to the Lotus 7 were sold to Caterham Cars and the new Caterham 7 was born. It is no surprise that the Caterham 7 has continued to be popular with enthusiastic driver throughout the decades, with its simple engine at the front, power at the back and two seats in the middle philosophy, this sports car was destined to be a hit. As is often the case when you have a winning design on your hands you often find others trying to copy it and Caterham is no exception, pursing several legal cases to protect the design rights. The design of the Caterham 7 remained pretty static until, in 2000, the SV version was offered. This was Caterham's answer to all those drivers who found fitting in the 7 a tight squeeze, giving an extra 11cm of width to the chassis meant that a whole new group of drivers could experience the astonishing road holding and performance of the 7. Unbelievably despite the car's lightweight origins Caterham continued to reduce the weight of its road racer, and this gave rise to the super light range of Caterham's. In 2004 Caterham released its most extreme version of the 7 yet, with the R500 Evo. This car could accelerate up to 100mph and then brake back to zero again in just over 10 seconds, a feat that placed it ahead of a seriously humbled Ferrari Enzo. Caterham have continued on with the lightness theme by producing a new version of the R500, a car that utilizes the very latest in carbon fiber and thin wall aluminum materials, and has enough of a power to weight ratio to worry a Bugatti Veyron owner. Nowhere is spared the weight loss program, even the windscreen is an optional extra, although thankfully the headlight bulbs still remain for those late night summer drives. Whilst the flagship Caterham models offer incredible performance for their price, there is actually a Caterham 7 available for every performance and budget requirement. More importantly if you can face a few long nights locked up in your garage and build one from a kit you will be able to save money even further, and glow in the satisfaction that the sports car you have just created is all your own work. The Caterham 7 is a real drivers car, with the performance and handling to make every drive a really enjoyable one. By fitting upgrade Car Bulbs you can ensure that the driving fun can continue even after the sun has gone down, and with the latest upgrade xenon bulbs available in most applications, including H7 Bulbs, there is sure to be one that will fit your Caterham.

2009 Honda S2000

The best definition of a real sports car came from the late John Timanus, a successful racer in the '50s and '60s and long-time technical director of the Sports Car Club of America: "A sports car is a four-wheeled motorcycle." That's the Honda S2000.

As with a motorcycle, a real sports car makes the driver feel as if he is the car: Superman, cape flapping in the breeze. Like a motorcycle, a real sports car needs a skilled pilot for top performance. A real sports car is light: The S2000's curb weight is almost 900 pounds less than that of a Sprint Cup racer. A real sports car has a manual transmission. A convertible top, while not crucial, earns extra points. A real sports car doesn't necessarily have the most horsepower: A well-driven real sports car can be quicker up a mountain road than a pretender driven by one who believes bigger and more makes up for ineptness. The S2000 exceeds all the expectations of a real sports car. And one more: A real sports car allows you to imagine you're driving a real racecar.

Long ago, I tested Comptech Racing's Reynard 95I-Honda Indy car. Driving the 2009 S2000 put me back in that carbon-fiber tub. The S2000's digital dash is a near copy of that racer's. The driver's compartment of an S2000 is tight. You needn't be as short or trim as an Indy car driver, though the big of butt will find the S2000 cramped. Like an Indy car, an S2000 requires skilled foot coordination to get it in motion from rest. Stalls are inevitable.

Like an Indy car, the S2000's 237-horsepower 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine doesn't make a lot of torque at low engine speeds and doesn't reach its peak of 162 pound-feet until 6,800 rpm. Once either the Indy car or the S2000 smells the sweet spot of the torque band, their engines begin revving like crazy. At maximum acceleration, there's little point in putting your right hand back on the steering wheel between shifts of the S2000's six-speed transmission.

On dry public roads, it's difficult to get the S2000's sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE050s anywhere close to their limit. But a light rain prompted me to relive my Indy car experience. Like a knucklehead, I switched off the S2000's stability control and launched from a stop at an assertive 4,000 rpm. There was only a hint of wheelspin as the digital lines of the tachometer raced across the top of the dash. As the tach line turned red I pulled back on the precise, short-throw shifter without lifting fully off the gas. The rear tires lit up exactly like those on the Reynard-Honda when I was rough on the throttle. Fortunately, the S2000's Torsen limited-slip differential helped prevent the rear from stepping out.

I repeated this on the two-three upshift and was rewarded with a bit more wheelspin. The S2000 then told me the same thing as the CART car: "Be more gentle or you're going to make a fool of yourself." Having matured slightly over 14 years, I figured I didn't need to run the S2000 to the redline in third. In the rain. On a public road. Instead, I entered the upcoming off-camber left-hander a hair faster than was prudent. Okay, fast enough to earn chrome wrist jewelry from the police, and was rewarded by a slight and easily catchable tail slide. When the rear settled down, it required every bit of my scarce willpower to keep from going back to wide-open throttle. Old habits die hard.

The first edition of the S2000 appeared in 1999 as a 2000 model. Its 2.0-liter engine suffered from an overly high torque peak. To get maximum drag-race-style acceleration required a drag-car style launch. The driver held the gas and clutch pedals to the floor and, with the engine bouncing against its 9,000-rpm rev limiter, sidestepped the clutch. That early S2000 would then spin its tires about a rotation and a half until the engine bogged below the torque peak. Then it came to life. It wasn't easy on the equipment, but to quote the philosopher Tina Turner, we never ever do nothing nice and easy...we always do it nice and rough. With the new 2.2-liter engine, a best-time launch is accomplished at a more reasonable 4,500 rpm or so.

The S2000 is a spectacular-and real-sports car that would have been a cult legend had it appeared in 1969 or 1979 or even 1989. Unfortunately for it, the S2000 debuted when we were infatuated with three-ton station wagon (also known as SUVs). Still, this is a real sports car.

The Olympus E620 is billed as the World's smallest DSLR with mechanical image stabilization. It's a fun camera, designed to bridge the gap between the professional and artistic worlds. It has a light body - 18.9 ounces. The In-body Image Stabilization adjusts to your body movement to eliminate blur caused by camera shake.

What makes the E620 attractive?

Six in-camera art filters (Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale and Light Color, Grainy Film, Light Tone and Pin Hole) and four aspect ratios (3:2 yields popular 4″ x 6″ print size, 4:3 gives an 8″ x 10″ enlargement, 16:9 will display in widescreen television format, 6:6 yields a square image.)

The TFT screen can be rotated to any angle to capture shots over spectators' shoulders, around obstacles or at ground level.

The Olympus E620 uses Shadow Adjustment Technology to compensate for light variations within shadowed areas while retaining sharper highlighted areas.

The Olympus E620 will add a touch of style to your images and put the fun back into photography!

JVC HM200 HD Camcorder

I wanted an HD camcorder because our standard definition one died, that is to say, it quit recording pictures and only did sound. We needed one that did good indoor video because that's where 90% of our videos would be taken. Since we have a huge HD television and another one on the way, plus a great computer for editing video (imac with imovie 09) I figured it was time for a true HD camcorder.

I spent several days and many long hours researching my best options. Since I live in the middle of nowhere I had no way to test in a store which options were best for me. I narrowed it down to two choices and bought the cheapest one hoping it would be good enough.

The JVC Everio HM200 is a great little HD camcorder, especially if you want to record outdoor video. It has a 20x zoom, digital image stabilization and holds two SDHC cards. It's very small, comfortable, has a genius design for a wrist/hand strap and wraps up into a neat little package. It doesn't come with an HDMI cable so you'll need to buy that separately if you want to hook it to an HD TV. The biggest downfall was that the indoor video was marginal. It was sort of ok if you were watching it on a computer screen, but the minute you watched the video on an HDTV you could see unmanageable amounts of noise, digitizing almost and basically so bad you have to apologize to everyone in the room for the bad picture. Not what I wanted to see.

However, there are people who don't care about indoor video. To them I say, buy this great little number, it's got a lot of great features, has a very intuitive menu and I really enjoyed having it.

I recommend watching some sample videos on YouTube.com and Vimeo.com if you are unable to find a store that sells one in your area.

LCD TV

If you've decided on buying a new LCD TV, over alternative technology such as plasma or the latest expensive LED TVs, then you are set to bag yourself a bargain. Regardless of whether you desire a little 17 inch model to go in the kitchen, or an expansive 40 inch plus screen to have pride of place in your lounge, now is the time to by an LCD TV.

That is because the prices of LCD TVs have dropped considerably since they first hit the market en masse, and now retailers are forced to be even more competitive in order to sell their products in uncertain economic times. A combination of improved technology, resulting in better quality manufactured sets, and the fact that many people have already bought into flat screen technology over the past couple of years means that there are some cracking bargains to be had, whether you decide to buy a LCD TV online or whether you nip down to your local electrical retailer.

Plasma TV prices have also dropped dramatically as many manufacturers have opted to discontinue making them, proving that the LCD screen option was the better bet all along! In a recent North American study it was found that LCD TVs outsold plasmas by over seven to one during 2008, probably hastening the decision to end plasma screen production!

Although plasma pictures were considered to be superior the recent improvements in quality have significantly narrowed that gap. Even Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TVs with a screen size in excess of 40 inches now boast a better quality picture than earlier models. In addition, plasma TVs consume vastly more electricity to deliver their picture quality, which is this day and age of global green awareness is probably why they are falling by the wayside.

Finding a discount LCD TV is sometimes a bit of a challenge, but there are always bargains to be had.

Of course when you are searching for an LCD TV, it is best not to look solely on price, even if it seems like a bargain. There is a balance to be found between finding an LCD TV with a good sound a picture while at the same time picking it up for a decent price.

Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook

The Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook uses the new Intel Atom N280 CPU which is paired with a high performance chipset that allows users to watch high-definition content on Asus Eee PC 1000HE while using less energy. This is a great little computer for travel. With a faster front-side bus the new Atom N280 processor runs at 667MHz (667MHz FSB). The Atom N280 processor runs at 1.66GHz, and you may also buy a 2GB stick of ram. It's a very easy upgrade, and it only takes about 5 minutes to install.

There is very fast boot up time and runs XP just fine. But Photoshop CS and Photoshop 7 run flawlessly. However, it works well and has plenty of space with the 160GB HD. This netbook has a 10.2-inch LED-backlit widescreen display, and 1024 x 600 resolution that allows you to view a single page without often needing to scroll left or right. And of course, it also includes software that allows users to change the resolution to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

The large chiclet keyboard will allow you to work or travel in absolute comfort for hours on end. This chiclit style is much better than the old 1000H model, and it was an easy keyboard to adjust to and comfortable.

As you know it has a smaller screen than a larger laptop, but the battery can sustain 7.5 hours. So you don't have to bring the charger all the time. Well, you can download software you might need via the internet, or you could do a LAN connection to access another computer's drives.

Overall, the Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook is really great, the price point is dead on, and the widescreen display is actually quite nice.

Digital Nikon Camera

While you are searching and trying to determine what the best digital Nikon camera is. There are several factors that one must take into consideration in making this decision. Now one must understand that these factors differ with each individual due to the tremendous variance in each ones needs. Therefore making any kind of suggestion as to which camera is the best is a complete impossibility.

So instead of making any suggestions or recommendations as to which one I think is the best. I am going to provide you with what features a camera should have in order for it to even be considered a candidate for the best digital Nikon camera.

The Two features a "camera must have" for it to be considered the best digital Nikon camera!

1: Picture Quality = Number Of Megapixels:
The very thing that determines the picture quality on any digital camera is the number of megapixels the camera has. Again this is a very broad area of discussion because of the needs each individual has is so vast. But in order to be a candidate for the best digital Nikon camera. It has to have no less than 5MP, understanding that Nikon makes cameras that have more than 14MP therefore increasing the sharpness of its picture . Those cameras with such high megapixels usually fall into their professional line of cameras.

2: Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom:
Just like picture quality, the zooming power is something that must not be over looked. Cameras must have at least a 4X (VR) zoom to be considered a candidate for the best camera. A powerful, clear, auto-focus zoom will help make your pictures look as if they were done by an professional photographer every time.

So when looking to purchase a digital Nikon camera. You just need to make sure that these two features - plus any other specific feature that you want on your camera - are on the model that you are considering. This way you can be assured that according to your individual needs/wants/desires, you have gotten the best digital Nikon camera with the capability of meeting all your photography needs.

Plasma TVs

Many people are going crazy over the modern technology, and there is no way to escape the craziness, you have to get your own plasma TV. Below is an overview of the plasma TVs and their features, and where to get them online at the best prices.

Plasma TVs are video monitors that use millions of little colored fluorescent lights that create images. These little light cells are in between two glass plates with electrodes that cause triggering of cells to produce patterns and colors. This is one innovative way to create images. This kind of technology allows plasma TVs to be large and at the same time flat.

Plasma TVs are very easy to view from wherever you are in a room. Not like any LCD TV or projection TVs, images in plasma TVs could be viewed from any angle. Image quality of plasmas is clearer and larger than the old tube TVs. This is why the plasmas could accommodate high definition signals of HDTV and DTV, and many other formats. The plasma televisions provide images in very high resolution. They are also so flat, they look modern and attractive, but still there's no distortion from he curvature. That used to be a problem in tube TVs. The plasmas are also light-weight and slim. Their construction enables them to be hung on the wall. You could put them just anywhere, this is a clear advantage over the old tube TVs and the projection TVs. They are very life-like, picture is the clearest and there is depth and three dimension feature. The plasma TVs could accommodate widescreen format so you get full theater experience. In addition to this, the plasma TVs make most of the DVD and HDTV formats.

All the modern technology gadgets come with also modern prices. The plasma televisions are not cheap. Most of them start at $2,000 and can go up to $10,000. To be able to get the best deal, it is recommended to go to local electronics stores and compare features and prices. Compare prices before you buy. I found a perfect online service that has prices and comparisons from real customers of all brands and models of plasma televisions. Their service doesn't only provide well-researched comparisons, but they also give ratings and detailed information of the products.

Htc Touch Diamond Review

In the world of 3G technology the Pocket PC has become a large selling product in the world of communications. With many competitors in the market it's essential for manufacturers of any mobile device to be able to remain competitive in order to meet the demands of the public. The HTC Touch Diamond is the predecessor to the HTC Touch has far exceeded expectations by reaching sales of one million during a six week period, a figure it took its predecessor five months to achieve. These early sales figures have caused HTC to revise their initial 2008 projects to three million in spite of the fact that it did not being available until late summer and still will not be available in some countries until later in the year.

Like other 3G entrants, the HTC Touch Diamond includes a camera, phone and music capabilities. The internal memory is 4 GB and is expandable to 8 GB for the true music fan. The only real disadvantage of this phone is that it includes a standard keypad instead of the QWERTY keyboard that is common with most smartphones.
