Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

The Core 2 Extreme QX6850 is now the new flagship of Intel CPUs with four cores and not only enjoy an increased bus, but the core rate was slightly increased. In direct comparison to the QX6800, based on the current B3-stepping Kentsfield-based, the QX6850 now works with 3.0 GHz (333 MHz x 9) and relies on the refurbished G0-stepping. At the previous architecture, the caches and the features it has not changed and is based on proven technology.

Intel turned in its quad-core series Turbo: The commercially available today in the Model Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Intel operates with a higher front side bus. Instead, the 266 system clock is now 333 (effective 1333) MHz. At the same time, Intel underlines the working frequency slightly to 3 GHz now - the strongest yet tactful quad-core model, the Core 2 Extreme QX6800, runs at 2.93 GHz. Otherwise, everything remains the same: The Core 2 Extreme QX6850 consists of two de facto Core 2 Duo E6850, the semiconductor giant in a processor has packed housing. Overall, the QX6850 8 MB of L2 cache available.

The maximum power dissipation (Thermal Design Power) is, according to manufacturer's specifications at 130 watts - for a four-core CPU is a good value. In addition, the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 all important functions spendiert that a modern processor should dominate. These include hardware virtualization, the 64-bit support and various additional instruction sets to SSE3. And in an Extreme variant may also not arbitrary multiplier of the missing - who for better cooling provides, can the 3-GHz processor so very easily elicit more power.

Quad Core Computer Basics

With every upgrade of the computer processor, the techno-savvies experience faster processing and better performance. After the dual core computer, the quad core computer is a revolution in the arena of PC processors. Considered as a part of multi-core processor family, the quad core computers have displayed a significant increase in computer performance and there is no doubt that it is much faster than its previous generation processor. The faster performance of the new age processor is due to the algorithms used in the programs and it depends on the type of programs that run.

Wonderful performance:

When parallel programming and multi-tasking ability is concerned, performance of quad core computer is simply excellent. Ranging from high-end video game playing provision, Hardware virtualization, audio transcoding, and data folding, to video and photo editing, voice recognition facility, 3D rendering, and data folding, you can get faster performance in quad-core computers. With the multi threading processing it is possible to run maximum amount of virtual machines, the number depends on the memory space available on the computer though. You can work with virtual studio on XP or XP virtual machine. The specialty of quad-core computer is its multi-tasking performance.

The misconception:

Many people believe that the speed of the quad core computer is four times than that of the single processor computer. The concept is not totally wrong, because the processor can speed up the processing of only those programs that are specifically designed to run on quad-core computer. In those programs, the codes are written in way that allows to processor to perform four different tasks simultaneously. The multi-threading processor of quad-core computer

Comparing two models of Quad core family:

Intel and AMD are two popular brands of quad core computers. Kentsfield is the first of its kind by intel and also known as core 2 extreme quad-core QX6700. Conroe or Core 2 extreme X6800 is its advanced and faster version. The latest 'Core' micro architecture technology is the base of these computers. Apart from being low-powered, the latest generations of these computers give high performance. Their excellence in performance can be observed in the fields such as digital content creation, actuarial sciences, engineering analysis, like CAD and financial applications. Ideally, these computers are best for users who require highly accurate scientific calculation. The mainstream and commercial version of quad-core computers from intel is Core 2 Quad Q6600.

The quad core computers from the AMD are based on an innovative technology i.e Silicon-on-Insulator process. Basically, the computers are built on a 65 mn process. The faster transistor is a unique feature of the computer that reduces the wasted heat and power. The computers from AMD has 'Enhanced Power Now' feature which adds to the power saving ability of the device. It allows to run each core of the computer at different speeds or turn off any of the core for more energy saving. The enhanced 'Crossbar Switch' another useful feature of the computer that allows the user to access different parts of the cores simultaneously. For much faster 'Hyper Transport' speeds AMD has developed its quad core computer with integrated memory controller and the latest 'Direct Connect Architecture 2.0'.

Quad core computers are basically designed for high end users and not for the general purpose use. Parallel programming, complex algorithm programs, and multithreading can be easily done with this high-end processor. The demand for quad-core computer will significantly increase in near future as the complex coding programming is increasing in every field.

Ipod - The Music Player

iPods seem to be taking over the world. One sees them everywhere one goes, being used by adults and children alike. One sees them on the television and in the movies. It seems that people are going insane over them! It is actually not surprising that this little device is attracting such fanatical devotion; it is indeed a fantastic device; it might even be the coolest thing to show up ever!

The iPod is a pocket sized, ultra light hard drive based audio player, designed and marketed by Apple Computers. All the iPod models are user friendly in design, and can be used even by young children. They offer a simple user interface and a scroll wheel to browse the navigation system. Unlike the other portable cassette or CD players, the iPod stores media on in-built memory. What this means is that you do not need to insert a CD or cassette.

An iPod is practical, functional, and cute as well! There are three different sizes and shapes to choose from. There is the skinny little iPod shuffle; the slightly larger but even skinner nano, and the most popular regular iPod that can play all your favorite TV shows and favorite songs.

Some of the other Mp3 players available might have disadvantages if compared to the wonder of the iPod. It is not only a question of how many songs they can hold; the overall quality and the cute look of the little machines are truly matchless. They can hold thousands of songs and pictures, they are so tiny, and they come in such wonderful colors. The iPod mini came in green and pink and blue and other lovely colors. The nano and the iPod now come in white and black. All the colors are hot and look great.

What it has come down to is that when you want to go in for a new music player, you may consider to get an iPod. It will hold hundreds of songs; the battery life is great. You can play it for more than twenty hours before you need to charge it again.

When you buy the iPod, the iTunes software is included in it. This software uploads music and photos in the iPod and it has been likened to a jukebox. The function of this software is to play, store and organize all the music and video files on the iPod. With iTunes, you can connect to the iTunes Music Store and buy music files for playing on the iPod. Although iTunes has been developed by Apple, it will work with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. ITunes is also freely downloadable on the web.

Apple Corporation released the iPod in October, 2001. Since then, the iPod has become the biggest selling portable hard disk player. It has sold around twenty million units in 2001-2005. The way the iPod was initially marketed also contributed to its enormous popularity, with excellent ads playing the coolest tunes in the background.

The tiny size of the iPod is its biggest advantage, and you can take it with you wherever you go. This can have its problems, as the iPod is delicate, and the screen and case are prone to scratching, even during normal use. So now a huge market has opened up, offering cases for your iPod to protect it from damage so that you can take it literally anywhere. The cases have options for clips and straps, so your iPod need never leave your side, until you want to put it away yourself.

Camcorders

Digital video camcorders have made shooting and editing a movie a simple affair for many. A decade back, one had very limited options, not so anymore! You head to buy one and you find the counters are flooded with various models of digital camcorders from different manufacturers, each with an array of features and formats. Now comes the most difficult part: choosing the one that rightly fits your purpose and budget.

The following sections are intended to guide you through the maze of models and help you select one that suits you the most.

Camcorder Type
Of the two types, analog camcorders and digital camcorders, digital camcorders are a rage today. The analog camcorders are too cumbersome, complicated and heavy to handle. Hence these analog models are fast getting replaced. Recording the information digitally on to a tape or DVD or hard disk and repeatedly playing them without any loss in quality are the major plus points of digital camcorders. They produce excellent quality, color and clarity of the video with 500 lines of resolution making the option of shooting videos with digicams irresistible.

Key Features
Let’s have a glance at the key camcorder features. This will help you understand, which of them you would actually serve your purpose.

Screen Size
Bigger the screen size, the more you can see of what you are recording. At the same time it will draw more battery power too. If you intend shooting frequently in bright sunlight, an additional feature the viewfinder will be very helpful and power saving too. There are various models with different panel sizes. You can have a look at the various models in these sizes:
1.8 to 2.4 in,
2.4 to 2.7 in,
2.7 to 3 in,
3 to 3.5 in.

Zoom
There are two distinct zoom capabilities digital and optical zooms and most camcorders have both.

Digital zoom enlarges the image i.e. it magnifies the actual pixels to achieve the maximum zoom. The final image is thus grainy in certain sections and lack clear definition. This blurring of picture due to enlargement of pixels is called pixelation. Most camcorders have the option to turn it off. It is not a very quality feature and you can afford to ignore it when purchasing a camcorder. A high digital zoom rating is impressive in figures but the images recorded are virtually useless. Check out the models in the various digital zoom ranges.
6.3 to 200,
200 to 1000,
1000 to 2000.

Optical zooms use physical movement of lens mechanism. The focal length of the lens is changed and the entire image that passes through the lens is captured with optical zoom. Thus it is more preferred. Higher optical zoom rating gives better image quality.

Recording Formats
Many recording formats are available. Each type of cassette or disc records video using a particular standard. Some of the commonly used formats are mentioned below:

MiniDV- MiniDV cassettes are the most commonly used. The video and sound quality is exceptionally good. These are mostly integrated in mid-range and high range models. The MiniDV camcorders are small, sleek and stylish owing to the small size of MiniDV cassettes.

DVD- The three types of DVD formats are: DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM. With DVD camcorder you can record video directly to a DVD-R and DVD-RW. With DVD-RAM camcorders in-camera editing is possible. DVD camcorders are expensive, but the associated advantage is that even with repeated playbacks the disc doesn’t degrade.

Flash Media- You can record digital stills to the Flash Media card just as it is done in digital cameras. Very few camcorder models record video to a flash media card. The various Flash Media cards used by the various manufacturers are: SD, Compact Flash, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Duo.

HDD- HDD camcorders are compact and record in MPEG-2 encoded video and also in other encoded formats too. Huge amounts of video data can be stored using compression techniques. The video is saved to an internal hard disc, the data has to be downloaded to a computer, and then burnt in to a DVD; the camcorder is then ready for reuse. HDD camcorders have no moving parts, hence the recording is free of motor noise and there is less chance of mechanical breakdown.

HDV-High Definition Video- The images are recorded to MiniDV tapes and deliver 1080i resolution. The sharp, clear video looks great on 1080i capable HDTV. In case you are editing HD video the prerequisites are the computer must have a fast processor, plenty of memory to meet the requirements of video editing software.

Digital 8- The Digital 8 camcorders record digital video on to Hi-8 video tapes. These camcorders can playback analog video tapes recorded on Hi-8 camcorders. The picture quality is very good and can be viewed on your television.

Micro MV- MicroMV camcorders use tapes that are much smaller than MiniDV tapes and use a compression technology. The digital video is compressed much more than a MiniDV camcorder. The MicroMV camcorders record high quality video and are equipped with full digital editing capability. These are ultra compact, light weight and amazingly small size that can fit in your palm. And they sure do come with heftier price tags.
Image Stabilization
For shooting a good video, you need to hold the camcorder steady and it should be jerk free. Camcorders have in built stabilization techniques which rectify errors caused due to jerks while shooting. The two types of stabilization techniques are Optical method and the Electronic method.

In the Electronic image stabilization technique the camcorder’s internal computer shifts the image electronically in the opposite direction of the shake. This is achieved by slightly zooming in on the image. Poor electronic techniques can cause loss of sharpness or resolution.

In the Optical image stabilization technique, a part of the lens is moved in the camcorder to compensate for the shake. This technique is superior to electronic method.

The best way to get a stable video shoot would be to use camcorder with tripod.

Controls
A small compact camcorder is convenient to carry no doubt but check out whether it is convenient for you to handle the controls too. Don’t compromise on usability. If you are able to see and operate all the main controls with less hassle, it will be easy for you to get the desired pictures.

Batteries
The LCD monitor of camcorders consumes huge amounts of power. So to keep the camcorder going when you are recording those crucial moments high capacity batteries are recommended. Rechargeable batteries are the best options. The most common ones used are NiCd and Lithium ion batteries. Of the two, Lithium ion batteries are preferred as they can be charged quickly and they are lighter than others. Lithium ion batteries score over NiCd batteries over the fact that they do not have the memory effects that reduce the effectiveness over time. Most batteries have a life period of around six hours.

Cost Factor
The low priced ones are of older technology. It is easy to record and also play them back. You get reasonably good results. Various manufacturers are in the fray with these digital camcorders. If shooting videos is your new passion low cost ones are ideal to get the hang of it.

For editing the recordings, adding sound tracks and effects the camcorders are priced more. The models in this mid range come with better features, more manual options and are also capable of taking good resolution still images.

High priced camcorders needn’t always mean they are most suited to your needs. They are the latest in the market with a newly added feature and only few companies have monopoly over this latest technology. So before you invest in one check out how best it is suited to your needs. If you are looking for quality with high resolution and flexible digital editing capabilities spend more. With more money you are going to get more features and thus more quality videos.

Brands
If you have fixed the budget take a good look at the ratings of various models of different brands in that range. Study the full reviews of the models and the key specifications; these are helpful to make the final choice. Some of the popular brands are:
Sony,
Canon,
Panasonic,
JVC.

Touch Screen MP4 Player

Do You Want A Touch Screen MP4 Player? You Should Read This

Consumers, eBay traders and online shop owners looking for touch screen MP4 players will soon have a wide selection of competitively-priced touch screen MP4s to choose from.

A market populated completely by expensive items like the iTouch, iPod and Pearl, from makers Apple and Blackberry, will soon get a new injection of competitively-priced models from Chinese electronics manufacturers.

While the increasing availability of touchscreen MP4 players will be extremely marketable there are still things to look for when choosing a MP4 touch screen player to make sure you, or your customer, will get the best deal possible.

Anyone looking to purchase a touchscreen MP4 will have to ask more questions on top of those asked when sourcing a MP4 player.

You may also want to ask:

How durable is the screen?

How can the screen be configured or re-configured?

Is the screen a resistive screen or is it multi touch?

How can I reset a locked touchscreen MP4

How durable is the screen?

This will be the first question consumers ask you as an eBay trader, whether you‘re selling a digital touch screen 4GB MP4 player, or touchscreen MP4 watch.

Ask the person you‘re buying the player off how many times you can touch the screen. The interface on most touchscreen MP4 players should last for about five million touches, but this may vary from player to player.

But extra shielding is always welcomed and touch screen guards can be bought from most electronics stores.

How can the screen be configured or reconfigured?

Touchscreen MP4s sometimes require re-calibration to work properly, ask the vendor how it can be done and make sure before making any firm commitments.

While you will need to ask the vendor for advice on specific models the protective screen can often be one common gremlin preventing responsive action. Ensure, when you remove the plastic protection system, you get all of it and none is stuck in the corners or on the edge of the screen.

Is the screen a Resistive Touch Screen or is it Multi-Touch

There is more than one type of touch screen. Most touchscreen MP4 players and PDA devices use a variation of a four or eight-wire resistive system, which uses wires to track the location of the stylus or finger.

Newer touch screen MP4 players, like the iTouch, use multi touch technology, which allows the user to utilize multiple fingers on the surface of the device at the same time.

How can I reset a locked touchscreen MP4?

Screen freeze is common problem for any portable touch screen device. Check to see how the device you are considering purchasing can be unfrozen.

Are there buttons at the top which will automatically take you back to the menu or will you have to take the battery out and reboot it completely?

The new MP4 touch screen players from Chinese manufacturers will make fantastic items for eBay traders and online electronic store owners to stock and while the risk of selling them may appear to be too great you should be able to avoid them by doing your research before purchasing or sourcing an item and by dealing with a trusted online wholesaler.

Canon EOS Rebel T1i

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1MP Digital SLR Camera or otherwise known as the 500D in other parts of the world is an entry-level package featuring higher resolution and a better AF system than its predecessor. This places it nicely between the XSi and the 40D and quite neatly replaces the XTi. Canon have been nice enough to include the kit bundled together with the veteran f3.5-5.6 18-55mm IS lens as well as the option to ship the body alone for those who already have a decent pair of lens available.

At first glance, the Canon EOS Rebel T1i's body is almost identical to the XSi, and weighs nearly the same at around 1.2-pounds. The plastic body is rather light and feels almost insubstantial for someone who has handled DSLRs regularly. On the other hand, this makes it ideal for the newbie DSLR user as it isn't too heavy to handle. The grip is comfortable enough and feels quite solid. The camera maintains the same large, fixed 3-inch LCD with almost all the buttons under your right hand for quick and easy access. The buttons each feel individual so you can feel your way through quite easily.

The modes on the dial are mostly unchanged, with the addition of the Creative Auto mode, which is a semi-manual mode that can be viewed as an advanced Auto mode. All functions in this mode are automated, with a few exceptions. In essence it replaces shutter and aperture adjustment options with two sliding scales, adjusting shutter speed and aperture which makes it great for the beginner who is starting to take some chances.

Specification-wise the Canon EOS Rebel T1i utilizes a 15MP APS-C size CMOS sensor (with a 1.6 x focal-length multiplier). This means the feature set is effectively the same as the XSi, with an image-stabilizing kit lens bundled together to balance this out. Waking and shooting in a quick 0.2 second the camera can focus and shoot in a fast 0.3 second in bright conditions, and can even deliver a 0.6 second shot lag in dim conditions. The shot-to-shot time runs at about 0.4 second, for both raw and JPEG formats. The camera's continuous shooting speed is a respectable 3.3fps. The frame rate and nine-point AF system should be able to keep up with most running children and pets.

The Canon EOS Rebel T1i's video movie quality is solid at 30fps 720p. While it can handle 1920x1080 resolutions it is only at 20fps with motion looking a bit jerky. AF can be manually invoked while shooting, as long as you remember that it is a bit slow in this respect. The camera uses mono audio for sound.

All in all, the Canon EOS Rebel T1i is an excellent upgrade for current XSi owners as the higher resolution and video capture capability are quite impressive. While more experienced DSLR fans may find the camera a bit limited in terms of control, new users looking for an entry-level DSLR with high resolution will find the camera perfect for their needs.

Canon PowerShot A590IS

Photography enthusiasts seem to have really good word about the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. First of all, the design of the Canon PowerShot A590 IS has improved and looks more professional with its dark gray matte finish. It also has a great image quality, and you can adjust the contrast, hue and saturation, sharpness, and the resolution settings directly in the camera.

When it comes to more technical stuff, the aperture priority of the camera readjusts the light depending on the subject you're about to shoot. It also has adjustable flahs modes for manual control, which gives you more control when shooting in different kinds of lighting. The optical zoom is up to 4x with an 8 megapixel lens. But the biggest upside of having this camera is that it's affordable and loaded with great features.

However, there are also a number of not-so-good qualities that need to be pointed about about the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. The biggest downside I think is the use of AA batteries, as opposed to the more advanced lithium ion other digital cameras use. The use of the AA batteries makes this camera heavier than its real weight, although still relatively lighter compared to other models.

Some users may also find the flash range of the camera to be a bit too short for their purpose, and the flash recycle time takes too long. Users also find the wide angle view to be insufficient to their needs, and that the video quality of the camera is not the best. But hey, good thing the video feature is not the selling point of the Canon PowerShot A590 IS.

Overall, if you're looking for a lighter weight alternative for your SLRs which sport great features, you should opt for the Canon PowerShot A590 IS. Despite its downsides, most photography enthusiasts still give the camera a rating of 9 out of 10.

After 3G It's 4G Mobiles

The mobile industry all over the world is going to be credited with the fourth generation mobile phone... but not quite in the near future. The rat race of launching this mobile phone is gaining speed. Till date, the 3G mobile phones like BlackBerry Bold and Apple's iPhone that used third-generation networks for faster Web browsing and e-mail were in demand but this time the companies are yearning to take a step forward. But due to the ongoing crisis, that has gripped the world, the techno savvy will have to wait some time before this technological evolution reaches into their hands.

The contemporary mobile phones that are manufactured by US largest carries (Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint) incorporate 3G technologies as they rely more on the 2.5G devices. In order to expand the 3G networks the wireless carriers will need to continue improving and expanding along with planning wisely. The advantages of these faster 4G cell phones will include 2 megabits per second that will allow the speed to run 10 times higher than the existing 3G phones. These 4G will also aid in the fatter data pipe of sorts, which will help in the translator to work smoother and faster in downloading or sharing of large files, such as movies or music.

Even in Japan and China experiments are being conducted on a new generation Internet capable cellphone to increase high-speed data transmissions that will possess a much higher speed than the present 3G cell phones. To make this a success, China and Japan have joined hands together to launch a phone that would use the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) and achieve speeds of up to 100 Mbps, comparable to fiber-optic cables and much faster than the current 3G cellphone maximum of 2.4 Mbps.

While many countries are just planning to launch this phone in the near future, Russia has claimed to launch the world's first first integrated GSM & WiMax called HTC MAX 4G. The researchers at Russia assert their 4G phones as a new generation device that has been made after consideration the future demands of connectivity on the mobile devices. Bedecked with a 5 mega pixel camera with auto-focus and secondary video call camera for video calling, this cell phone is believed to be an all rounder with every possible inclusion that one can imagine.

Some of the key feature of this cell phone includes 3.8" WVGA touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 8GB internal memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, Built-in accelerometer, Integrated FM radio, GPS receiver, Pocket Office, Yota TV, TouchFLO 3D finger swipe navigation, Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Touch-sensitive navigation controls.

2009 Hyundai Azera

Just for the record, the Hyundai Azera is not a luxury car. That's okay with most buyers as the Azera offers many of the luxury appointments of a car in a class above Hyundai, while offering Hyundai value and quality. Loaded to the gills, the Azera is a complete five passenger sedan, stacked with all of the stuff that drivers prize in cars costing thousands of dollars more.

Introduced in 2006, the Azera was the flagship sedan for Hyundai until the Genesis was introduced during Fall 2008. Considered by most to be a premium sedan, the Hyundai Azera's main competition includes the Toyota Avalon, Buick Lucerne, and the Lincoln MKZ.

Among the improvements made for the 2009 model year is improved steering and suspension, new blue interior lighting, chrome interior accents, a more distinctive chrome grille, redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels and iPod®/USB and auxiliary inputs. An LG in-dash navigation system, introduced during the middle of the last model year is also present.

The standard engine for the Azera is a 3.3L, DOHC V6 that produces 234-horsepower and 226 lbs.-ft. of torque. Optionally, buyers can choose an all-aluminum 3.8-liter, DOHC V6 engine, which delivers 263-horsepower and 257 lbs.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for the smaller engine is 18 mpg city and 26 highway, while the larger engines delivers 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Safety is a key element contained within the Azera as the sedan earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) top crash test ratings for frontal offset impacts. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Stability Control (TSC) are standard with every Azera model. Moreover, safety minded customers will enjoy the sedan's independent double-wishbone front- and multi-link rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and the antilock braking system (ABS) that includes brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution (EBD), which automatically adjusts the amount of force applied to each of a vehicle's brakes for optimal performance under poor road conditions, speeding, loading and other potentially hazardous situations.

For drivers accustomed to enjoying a wide range of luxury appointments, the Azera doesn't disappoint. Interior volume is excellent, offering even more space than the BMW 7-Series, while rain-sensing wipers, power adjustable foot pedals and power folding side mirrors with turn signal indicators is available on the Limited version.

Standard luxury includes, dual front automatic climate controls, electrochromic auto-dimming mirror, power seats for driver and front passenger, as well as woodgrain and metalgrain interior accents. By choosing the Premium package, buyers will get leather seating surfaces, heated front seats and a power sunroof to go with the standard amenities.

Warranty coverage is excellent and includes Hyundai's five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper protection, 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance and seven-year/unlimited mileage anti-perforation coverage. Furthermore, Azera buyers receive 24-hour roadside assistance coverage at no extra charge for five years (no mileage limit), a service that also includes emergency towing, lockout service and limited coverage for trip-interruption expenses. There is no deductible on any of this coverage.

With a base price of $25,695 for the Azera, the sedan is priced thousands of dollars less than competing models, proving once again that price and value go hand in hand with every upscale Hyundai model.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T

The 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T is like a rear-wheel-drive racecar-quick, responsive and fast. The standard engine is a 210-horsepower, turbocharged, four-cylinder that makes 230 lb.-ft. of torque at just 2,000 rpm.

The main purpose of front-wheel-drive, contrary to popular misconception, is to increase interior room. (And, if you haven't heard, additional weight is not "road hugging.") With a front-drive car, the front tires must do all of the acceleration and steering and about 80 percent of the braking, while the rear tires' main job is to keep the gas tank from dragging on the pavement. This means a front-driver has more difficulty simultaneously accelerating and turning (or turning and braking). With a rear-drive car, the rear tires concentrate on putting power to the ground, while the fronts focus on turning and/or slowing down. The bottom line: A rear-drive car will always beat an otherwise identical front-driver around a dry racetrack or up a mountain road. Not to mention, a rear-wheel-drive car can do things no stock front-drive car can do: drifting powerslides and hooning, smoky burnouts. ("Hoon" is an Australian or New Zealand word translates to anti-social behavior and driving irresponsibly.)

The Genesis Coupe is also available with a 306-horsepower 3.8-liter V6. While the Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 is notably quicker at the drag strip, the turbo four is the more enjoyable version of the car. Reasons are many: Much of the V6's extra 100 pounds is carried on the nose, which tends to overwhelm the front tires. The four also has much lower first and second gears in its six-speed manual transmission. The combination of big torque and low gearing gives the four cylinder strong acceleration in the speed range that can be used on public roads without entering the Highway Patrol's Frequent Offender Program. It also offers enough torque to squeal the tires leaving the line and on the one-two upshift.

The V6 moves the Genesis Coupe into a different realm. The V6 feels much less nimble than the four. Also, the V6's manual did not react well to performance-oriented shifts, responding with harsh drivetrain shocks, as if we had never driven a manual. Also, the linkage of both manual transmissions suffered from an extremely annoying buzzing. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to sample either of the automatics: five-speed with the four or six-speed on the V6.

The Genesis Coupe 2.0T will go head-to-head with the likes of the Honda Civic Si and the V6 Ford Mustang. The four-cylinder turbo is rated at 30 miles per gallon in the government's highway driving cycle and 21 mpg. The V6 gets 26 mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in the city, when equipped with the six-speed automatic.

Both engines are available in a "Track" configuration, which includes 19-inch-diameter wheels with very sticky Bridgestone Potenza RE050A summer tires and stiffer suspension springs and anti-roll bars, as well as Brembo brakes. The summer tires will help the Coupe's street performance but the stiffer suspension will be difficult to live with every day in pothole-plagued areas. Unless you're really going to the track, stick with the regular model. There's also a "R" version that removes some standard features, such as the sunroof, to reduce weight.

Safety features include active head restraints, six airbags, standard electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. Included is a 360-Watt, 10-speaker Infinity sound system. Inside, the Genesis Coupe offers good quality materials and commendable fit and finish. This is one reason that the average residual value after 36 months for a Hyundai has improved to about 43 percent currently from 37 percent in 2005. All is not perfect as the blue on black digital information center is difficult to read, and the speedometer and tachometer are offset away from the center of vision, making them a bit difficult to follow.

The Genesis offers minimal rear seat room. Five 17-year-old girls would fit just fine, but the Genesis Coupe is a two-seater for big or tall adults. It has a large trunk with a pass-through for long items. Here's the take-away: Rear-drive rules. Strong horsepower, low gearing and a low purchase are nice, too.

2010 Hyundai Tiburon

The sporty looking Hyundai Tiburon ranks middle in its class type models. The sporty Tiburon model could not match with the interior and the performance abilities of the competitor vehicles. The Tiburon model was dropped in the model year 2008 and it was available in the GT, GS, SE and GT limited trim levels till then. The model scored good ratings from the Test Drivers Award for the vehicles responsive and the sporty nature, as it operates on the configuration of the front wheel drive, the model was not able to compete with the other sport car models. The vehicle was rated low in its performance.

The great asset to the Tiburon is its exterior the model scored middle range for its exterior design style. The interior in the vehicle is more comfortable and reasonably accommodating for the front seat passengers. According to the news stated by the Detroit News, "the vehicle feels and looks terrific". The sport model Tiburon was rated well in the crash tests conducted by the government and featured with a wide range of safety features like the front side air bags.

The recent model in Tiburon was offered in two types of engines - the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that generates 138 horse power of energy and torque of 136 lb ft and the 2.7 liter V6 engine produces 172 horse power of energy and torque of 181 lb ft. The estimated EPA with the Tiburon is 20 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on highway. Now, the 2010 Hyundai Tiburon will be a much improvised and revamped version of the earlier generation, so let us wait and watch will it really serve as the much needed leap from failure to success?

Ritzy Maruti Ritz and Hyundai i10

When Maruti Suzuki launched the premium hatchback Ritz in May this year it made a huge splash in Hyundai plans. The Maruti officials openly claimed that Ritz will eat into the market share of Hyundai i10 at the base and the high end Hyundai i20. They also claimed that Mariti Ritz was better than Hyundai i10 in many ways and hence was a better buy. Hyundai officials rushed to clarify this point and let their actions speak louder than words.

The result was Hyundai sells at least 8,000 units of the i10 on an average every month. Indian small car market leader could not let such a market slip away form its finger. It launched Maruti A-star which was designed to rival the base versions of the Hyundai i10 while the Maruti Suzuki Ritz was meant to bit the share from the top end version. But Hyundai i10 has stood its ground and continues to pack all other hatchbacks to the lower ranks.

Let us take a compare the two cars Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz for what they stand.

On the performance, Hyundai i10 comes with two types of powertrains including Kappa engines and Ritz is powered by the new K12M engines. The smaller capacity 1.1Litre engines borrowed from Santro is a very capable power source. The other 1.2Litre Kappa engine is brilliant in performance and fuel economy. It delivers healthy 78.8 bhp while the Ritz with 1.2 Litre engine generates 84 bhp. Both engines offer a peak torque of 11.4 Kgm. When one compares the power to weight and torque to weight parameters, the Ritz is a big loser. The heavy body construction adds a full 170 kgs over what the i10 weights. This means the Hyundai i10 will offer quicker acceleration and sharp curves. Even when the cars are compared during the 0-60 km/h clock- the Hyundai i10 lands a few seconds earlier than Ritz. The Hyundai i10 surges comfortably ahead of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz.

On the ride and handling front, Ritz scores higher points than the i10. Built on the legendary Swift hatchback platform, Maruti Suzuki Ritz sports a taller roofline, a wider front end and a heavy rear end which helps balance the car during sharp curves. Ritz is a notch better than the i10 on agile handling parameter. The steering wheel in the Ritz offers good feel of the road and allows driver to feel in control of the vehicle. But drivers who believe that they have to zip through traffic like a cheetah, should go for the i10 as it is more agile owing it its lighter weight. At high speeds both cars display awesome stability.

On the design and interiors, Maruti Suzuki Ritz is more likely to rival the Hyundai i20. The tall and bulkier Ritz, comes with larger headlamps and wider front end, which translates to an attention grabbing exterior style. It has an utilitarian appeal complete with all the Maruti Suzuki design cues. The Hyundai i10 has a more contemporary design with pear drop shaped headlamps and grille that exudes power. It has the radical styling (like the swift) which will change the way hatches will look in the near future.

The interiors in Maruti Suzuki Ritz are spacious like the Swift. There is a tachometer integrated into the dashboard and twin dial instrument cluster is visually pleasing. Due to its tall roofline it offers an airy headroom which can accommodate adults over 6 ft tall. The rear seats offer a spacious legroom. The Hyundai i10 sports a modern feel. The controls on the dash are logically placed. The fine quality of the materials and the clean blend of dual of equipments and styles gives a feel of an upscale car. The in-car entertainment is on of the best in its class. The visibility from the driver's seat is excellent as the driver get a full forward view. The rear seat can be slightly cramped for large adults.

Overall, Hyundai i10 and the Maruti Suzuki Ritz serve as great family cars.

Hummer:An amazing jeep

Hummer is an off-road vehicle produced by General Motors and was founded in 1995 with its headquarters located in Detroit, Michigan. Hummer has three different models coming off the production line each year. They are the H1, H2 and the H3. The H1 is a modified version of the Humvee, the vehicle used by the military also known as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). Hummer introduced the H2 and H3 as smaller civilian market versions of the H1.

Humvees are designed to drive off-road through difficult terrain and became more familiar when the United States military used them in Operation: Desert Storm in 1991. In previous wars that the United States was involved in the military would use Jeeps to move their war generals and other members of the troops around from location to location. The Humvee was designed to navigate rough terrain and also had some armor placed on it specially for the military. After the H2 and the H3 were introduced by Hummer, they renamed the original vehicle, used by the military as the H1. The H1 is also available on the auto market today for civilian purchase but is not as popular as the other two models.

Hummer did not go international until 2006 when they decided to use select importers and distributors in Europe and some other markets. The H3 is produced in Port Elizabeth in South Africa. There are 300 Hummer dealers in 34 countries, with 173 of those dealers located within the United States.

The Hummer is the only vehicle in the United States that is offered with off-road tires, low-range transfer and a high-ground clearance. There are no two-wheel drive Hummers offered anywhere in the world as of yet. In 1993, before the corporation became known as Hummer, the Team Hummer Racing group was formed for competitions. Team Hummer picked up 11 wins at the Baja 1000 and has established itself as one of the best manufacturing companies involved in auto racing.

There are four concerns/criticisms about Hummer vehicles. They are poor fuel economy, safety, size and ecology safety. Hummer vehicles get on average 14 miles per gallon on the highway and only 10 miles per gallon in the city. They weigh in at roughly 6,000 pounds, which makes it illegal to drive the vehicles on certain streets and highways. Hummers do not offer side airbags, child safety locks, child seat tethers and stability control. Hummers also have large blind spots because of its massive body size which makes it difficult to park and dangerous to drive at times. Because of the size of Hummers, there are the blind spots but there are also problems parking and difficulty parking the vehicle in a garage. The fourth and final concern regarding Hummers is that they are not ecologically sound. They create noise pollution, air pollution and destroy wildlife when used in off-road activities.

Canon SD770

With some highly recognized and well advertised contemporaries around, it's easy for the Canon SD770 IS to be unnoticed. With interesting new interface design and ultra modern technology the SD770 IS is considered to be on the "best value" list.

The SD770 IS however does have the potential to be an example of what Canon is known for in its mid-level models, which is building comparatively simple point-and-shoots that draw on a proven collection of components and technologies.

Although it is not an overall star with a series of jaw dropping features hidden beneath its surface, it neither has any nasty surprises hidden under its cover to distract you. It is simply an ultra compact point-and-shoot camera with a 3x zoom lens and a 10.0 megapixel CCD imager.

Functionally, the camera is founded on Canon's legacy of placing lower-cost, lower-spec SD models in the 700 series. Style-wise this camera is a retro-classis return to the 'box and circle' look of the cameras of the mid nineties. Its appearance also reflects its ELPH lineage that morphed into the Digital ELPH around the year 2000 and has become integral to the Power Shot SD range which has continued to include Canon's latest ultra-compact technology in its flagship models.

The key factor of the SD770 however is its return to much of what the original ELPH was: a simple, pocket-model camera built with basic idea of good quality snapshot capture in mind. The inner workings of the SD770 reveal an ultra modern DIGIC III processing, optical image stabilization, and copious resolution form - the technological backbone around which this compact is built.

Though the SD770 gives up some of the higher-end models' more flashy soft features [face detection tools in playback, for instance] the benefits of upgraded processing - like improved speed all around, as well as Canon's nifty face tracking technology are right there in the mill.

At its most basic the SD770 IS provides the following features and the playback menu is refreshingly simple when compared with some of its competitors:

Auto: A fully automatic shooting mode with a highly limited number of user controls.
Manual: A program auto mode with adjustments for white balance, sensitivity, focus modes, etc.
Scene: A total of 11 shooting situation presets [plus Colour Swap, Colour Accent, and Digital Macro modes] are available.
Movie: The SD770 supports basic video recording functions at up to 640x480, 30 fps.

With a square basic shape, a familiar and comfortable control panel arrangement, and the SD-signature prominent lens bezel, the SD770 joins the SD1100 as far and away the most "ELPH-like" of Canon's current SD range, with a solid feeling construction. The camera's lightly sculpted rectangular shape combines with a dense, thick overall feeling that suggests true quality.
