The New Stuff Phenom II X4 945

With respect to hardware, nothing really seems to have changed, there are no changes in chache size, the '955 features the full size 6 MB L3 cache, nor has the transistor count changed. Rated frequency is up a bit, from 3.0 GHz in the X4 940 to 3.2 GHz in the 955 and, of course, the socket pinout is AM3, meaning a 938 pin-count and native DDR3 support with backward compatibility with any AM2/AM2+ board as long as the BIOS supports the new CPU. At the same time, AMD is launching the Phenom II X4 945, which essentially replaces the X4 940 in Socket AM3 flavor and runs natively at 3.0 GHz. In so far, there is really nothing new but some tweaks must have been applied because new BIOS revisions are required to operate the new CPU offerings. Moreover, we observed a few anomalies in benchmarking behavior that further support our suspicions that more fine-tuning went on under the hood than what AMD publicly discloses.

Phenom II X4 945

Before going into benchmarks - arguably what a lot of this article is all about - there are a few improvements in AMD's Overdrive (AOD) version 3, a beta version of which we had, introducing an amalgamate of EPP and XMP and Turbo Boost in a single software interface. And guess what, it is actually done in a pretty smart fashion (no surprise there since your's truly had a finger in some of the feature definitions).

AMD Regor and Callisto, the New X2s

It is always refreshing to see some new hardware coming out. Needless to say that the more exciting stuff always concerns the high-end solutions but not everybody is in the market for this kind of toy. From a financial standpoint, the low end has always been the "bread and butter" for any company and who doesn’t believe it just needs to check Intel’s latest statements regarding their Atom sales.

In the last months, AMD has gained substantial market share. Some of it has been offset by the slumping Opteron sales but the net effect is still an increase in market share. With the current CPU architecture, there is very little chance to compete against Intel’s Core i7 but again, if Intel has Nehalem and Atom as their key players, that leaves the door wide open for everything else in between. After the original Phenom, which was arguably a dud, Phenom II has picked up performance and, especially in the AM3 flavor, has reached parity or has outpaced most of the Core2 processors, at least on a $ for $ basis.

Phenom II, though, is costly to manufacture; 758 million transistors, even if they are crammed into 258 mm2, still take up 258 mm2 which translates in a limited number of die per wafer. In order to remain price-competitive especially in the lower market segment, AMD needs a smaller die with high performance and the latter is something that the original Athlon X2 can no longer deliver, not even with migrating the design to a 45 nm process. On the other hand, all current IC designs, including Phenom (II) are fairly modular, with the individual building blocks comprising the cores, the NB/IMC and the system request interface (SRI). In a nutshell, the recipe in this case was to take two cores and tie them to the dual channel NB/IMC after stripping out the 6 MB L3 cache. On the HT side, the known-good SRI didn’t need any replacement, therefore, everything stayed as usual.

Intel Core i7 Power Plays

In our initial article about the Core i7, codename Nehalem, we were stunned by the power efficiency of Intel’s new CPU, particularly, as we stated, since the measured processor power consumption also comprised that of the memory controller – a saving on the system level of somewhere in the order of 15-20W under load. In the course of numerous discussions, it became obvious that the numbers we measured did not quite add up to the thermal load. After the embargo on the Core i7 was lifted, data sheets became available proving our assumptions wrong, in that the memory controller was NOT part of the power we measured through the VRMs. At the same time, CanardPC and several other websites like HardTecs4U posted additional information regarding the overall power configuration of the Nehalem CPU, which is somewhat different from what we have come to know in the past from CPUs offered by Intel or AMD.

Helpful consumer’s review
I just got this laptop on Saturday. Upgraded to Windows 7 RC the same day. This computer is phenomenal. Great, and I mean great for watching blue ray movies. I dont know how time will influence my opinion of this computer but my first impressions are it is a power house of fun. Performance is great in all areas tested so far, have yet to do any gaming though. Oh by the way yes the AW series is designed for “Photographers” but this is a perfectly capable computer, the 18″ screen on the AW series is a bit to big to lug around in any photographers gear bag, this computer is superior performance wise then athe VGN-AW310J (which is priced higher) it just has a 2 inch smaller screen, which to some may find important. I am happy with better performance than a bigger screen since I have a 22″ samsung anyway.

MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 Motherboard

The latest socket AM3 compatible Phenom II processors have been available for several weeks now and they had proven in our initial coverage to be excellent chips, a notable improvement over their predecessors in several respects, including overclocking and in their support for higher clocked DDR3 memory. Thanks to the Phenom II's ability to use both DDR2 and DDR3 memory types, they can be used in existing AM2+ boards, which is an excellent solution for many current AMD users. The AMD 790GX chipset offers an excellent low cost DDR2 solution for Phenom II owners but currently available implementations lack some of the higher-end bells and whistles that many enthusiasts and gamers want. The 790GX chipset technically supports Hybrid CrossFireX, allowing two or more discrete graphics cards to team up with the IGP, but many currently available boards generally only offer a single physical PCI-E x16 slot, there are exceptions of course but only a few.

While AMD's new Phenom II chips can also support DDR2 and are compatible with existing AM2+ boards, their full potential is only realized when equipped with a few sticks of fast DDR3. Unfortunately, so far, the pool of available DDR3-enabled AM3 boards has been rather small with only a few choices. The majority of available DDR3 equipped AM3 boards also lack the multiple PCI-E x16 slots necessary to support CrossFireX. One of the few boards with both DDR3 and full CrossFireX support is ASUS' M4A79T Deluxe, which we briefly checked out in our initial look at the AM3 Phenom IIs. Today, we'll be examining the second DDR3 full CrossFireX capable AM3 board to hit our labs, the MSI 790FX-GD70, and we'll be putting it up against the M4A79T, head-to-head to see how it stacks up.

2009 GMC Canyon

• Vehicle Overview
The GMC Canyon is a twin to the Chevrolet Colorado. The GMC versions are priced slightly higher than the Chevys, and that gets buyers more-contemporary styling and a refined interior. Mechanically, and in terms of feature availability, there are no differences between the two trucks. It's all in the appearance and perception. The Canyon returns with three cab styles and three trim levels: WT, SLE and SLT.
New for 2009The big announcement is the availability of a powerful 300-horsepower V-8. Not that the 3.7-liter inline-five-cylinder engine isn't a strong performer, but all other compact trucks — with the exception of the Ford Ranger — offer strong V-6 engines, and the midsize Dakota has a 4.7-liter V-8.

The Canyon generally caters to an upscale audience, so the V-8 may make up a greater percentage of Canyon sales than it does of Colorado sales. The V-8 can also be had with the slick-handling ZQ8 suspension, which returns for 2009. The ZQ8 lowers the truck about an inch and comes with revised steering and suspension tuning, performance tires, and unique 18-inch wheels to provide more aggressive handling. The Z71 suspension is designed for offroad use, while the Z85 suspension is standard.
Also for 2009, Chevy beefed up the brake system and now includes electronic stability control and XM Satellite Radio on all models.

Advantages Of Voip Phone Service

The term VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and it is a recent technology that allows Internet users to place voice calls over the Internet. This term may also be referred to as telephony, Internet telephony, or IP telephony.

With VoIP Internet phone service, you no longer need a phone to make voice calls. When you are logged on to the Internet, you can make use of your connection to call people anywhere in the world. This type of call is also cheaper, especially when you compare it to long distance voice calls.

VoIP calls are less expensive because they make use of the network that your Internet connection already uses. Also, there is no need to install extra equipment which helps lower costs. For this reason, calls made between one VoIP user to another are often free or cost a negligible fee. VoIP calls made to regular phones, or to a public switched telephone network (PSTN), cost significantly more, however.

VoIP to PSTN Calls
There are two ways VoIP users and PSTN users can converse with each other. One of the methods is known as direct inward dialing, or DID, which directly connects a PSTN user to a VoIP user. DID calling is provided by VoIP providers.

The other method for making VoIP calls to PSTNs, or vice versa, is through the use of access numbers. With this type of Internet phone service, PSTN callers input access numbers that correspond to a certain VoIP user's extension number in order for a call to be successful. Access numbers are usually charged as local calls, making it affordable for the PSTN caller and free for the VoIP user.

Who Uses VoIP?
VoIP Internet phone service is gaining popularity, and has been used by individuals and businesses alike. Thanks to the availability of broadband Internet service to individual users, VoIP technology is now available to anyone with a broadband connection. If you want to order VoIP technology for your business, look for a VoIP provider, such as AT&T VoIP, who will provide you with plenty of options for making the most of your VoIP service. Some providers provide you with inbound and outbound VoIP calls worldwide, while some even allow you free unlimited calls to the United States and Canada.

Some providers, such as AT&T VoIP service, also provide customers with a separate phone jack for VoIP calls to increase the quality and make the reception almost the same as that of regular phone service. This type of VoIP service is fixed, and will only allow you to make calls from your home or wherever you have the phone jack installed. This allows you to keep your existing phone number while taking advantage of VoIP technology.

Providers such as Gizmo Project and Skype allow you to make VoIP calls using any computer, anywhere in the world. With this type of VoIP Internet phone service, you can contact anyone and make voice calls no matter where you are.

Lowdown on VoIP

It seems like technology is headed for a massive telephone change over. The traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is looking to be replaced by VoIP. VoIP is short for Voice over IP. VoIP is the routing of conversations over an IP network or the Internet. VoIP uses a packet-switched network instead of the circuit-switched voice transmission lines used by traditional telephone networks. VoIP does not need an Internet connection to work. A company that has a LAN connection with all of its computers can utilize VoIP technology.

VoIP is a great technology, but has a variety of issues with implementation. VoIP may face problems with latency because IPs do not provide Quality of Service guarantees, nor do they provide their packets of information in sequential order. High-speed Internet connections are required for VoIP and firewalls often prove tricky for VoIP technology. To combat this, many people use Session Border Controllers (SBC).

VoIP technology has many advantages. There are more new features with VoIP because of the lack of an International Telecommunications Union. VoIP is still very much an open market for developers, so the technology is constantly being improved. VoIP also has a lower cost than traditional sources because of the monopolies that exist or traditional phone companies being controlled by the government. Some users even see VoIP phone calls as free because they do not have to pay extra for the service. The user only pays the Internet service provider, and therefore the usage of VoIP seems to be free. You can also take your VoIP phone wherever you go because all you need is a network connection to make it work. VoIP technology will also benefit network agents who work for call centers. Agents can help callers from anywhere in the country with an Internet connection. Finally, because VoIP is on the computer, there is increased functionality. Conference calls can be held, information can be sent, and things like address books can be updated and shared over VoIP.

While VoIP has many advantages, there are a few drawbacks to the service. One of the biggest drawbacks is reliability. Telephone lines have back up generators in case of power outages, so phones can keep working. Because VoIP is connected to the Internet, a power outage will end a VoIP call when the computer shuts down. To combat this, users must buy an expensive uninterruptible power supply or a generator that must then be installed on the premises. Internet connections are also subject to disconnection, depending on crowded networks, and the quality of the ISP. If the Internet connection drops, then the VoIP call will be dropped. VoIP is also a problem for emergency calls. Because of the nature of the Internet and VoIP systems, emergency workers cannot trace calls. In the event that someone with an emergency has a problem but is unable to give an address, the emergency worker will not be able to trace the call and find the person. VoIP carriers are already attempting to fix this problem by implementing a technical work-around. Finally, it will be very difficult to integrate VoIP on a massive scale, because while the standard Plain Old Telephone System (POTS) has a common standard, VoIP does not.

VoIP has many advantages as well as some large drawbacks. The main roadblock in the way of global VoIP adoption is reliability. When VoIP proves that it can be just as reliable as traditional telephone services have been over many years, then it will start to be adopted. VoIP technology is always improving, so the problems with VoIP today are likely to be solved sooner than many people expect. VoIP can truly revolutionize both the business world and home life.

A Simple Guide To VoIP?

(VoIP) allows you to make basic communications functions, such as voice calls, voice messaging and facsimile over the internet instead of the traditional telephone network.

You can use your existing broadband internet connection so there is no need for a second line to be installed. You simply sign up to a VoIP service provider who will charge you a subscription charge, and/or your call charges. When you sign up to a VoIP provider you are given a VoIP number which is the same as a traditional phone number, and what you give to other people so that they can contact you.

VoIP Costs

With VoIP you can still call any number that you want whether it be another VoIP user, a landline or a mobile. You are not limited to other VoIP service users only. The charges for all calls depends on theVoIP service provider that you sign up with. You may find that some calls using VoIP are cheaper than a traditional telephone network, whilst others may work out more expensive. Depending on your VoIP service provider you may also get a number of free calls, particularly to other VoIP users with the same provider.

The cost of VoIP varies depending on which VoIP service provider you use. Some will charge a monthly subscription fee which may include a number of calls, whilst others may simply charge only for the calls you make. You may also have to pay an one-off set-up fee or for any equipment you need to use VoIP.

Many VoIP service providers offer a pay-as-you-talk option similar to that which is offered with mobile phones. You simply purchase credit from yourVoIP service provider and make calls until that credit runs out, before purchasing more credit to use again. Some VoIP service providers may require you to top up your account by a minimum amount for a fixed period.

VoIP Technical Issues

VoIP uses broadband connection so your use of it will be as reliable as your existing broadband internet connection. Therefore, if your connection often drops then you may find it will do the same with your VoIP usage. Broadband technology is relatively dependable but you may suffer problems if your internet service provider has technical issues or there is a high amount of internet traffic.

If you use VoIP via your computer then it will have to be turned on in order for you to make or receive calls. To put it simply, if your computer is not on then people will not be able to contact you on your VoIP number. Some VoIP service providers may offer a voicemail option in order to pick up messages from any calls you can not take but you may be charged for this service.

It should also be noted that some VoIP service providers do not allow you to make emergency calls so you should also ensure that you have another way of getting hold of the emergency services if required

Linux Web Hosting

If you are looking for your first web hosting provider, you may notice that different web hosts offer two different kinds of web hosting- one is Windows Hosting and the other is Linux Hosting. You may or may not have the knowledge about the differences between the two hosting platforms. Probably the question "Does this difference matter that much?" might come in your mind.

It is said that it usually does not make much difference as far as the selection of web hosting format is concerned. But, it really matters when the following questions arise:

a. What you are looking for in the hosting services?

b. What features you will prefer to use for your website?

To run some specific features and applications on your website, the selection of the right hosting services is very important.

Some features of Windows Hosting

If one wants to use Microsoft Features with his website, he should use the Windows Hosting. Also for a website having a utilization of databases, Microsoft hosting would be the right selection.

Furthermore, for very interactive websites, the Windows hosting platform is comparatively more ideal. Here, a question may come in one's mind, Why? Some web developers need a regular interaction with their visitors or clients. They would usually find it working better with Windows Hosting as the visitors can have an easy access to the data base. Also the online chatting services can be easily implemented. These are some of many other interactive features which have been usually found performing better on the Windows Hosting Platforms.

Windows hosting also offers websites to use ecommerce features, which allow the business professionals or the financial institutions to have an easy and efficient interaction with their clients.

Windows hosting is too easy to handle even by a person having little or no webmaster experience. On the other hand, Linux hosting is not that much easier for an inexperienced person.

If a website is designed to be hosted on the Windows hosting platform, and later the web developer wants to convert it to be used on a Linux server, he would find a great deal of difficulty in conversion. However, it is generally not difficult in a vise-versa situation. You may need to consider this point at the time of planning for your website or deciding between the two hosting platforms.

Some features of Linux Hosting

Linux hosting is reputed specifically for both of its stability and reliability. So the customers with websites hosted on a Linux server have almost no need to bother about the security of their websites. This is something any hosting customer looks for. Linux also provide very powerful and dependable hosting services.

Linux will handle a brochure like website in a very good fashion. However, you can still add some interactive features like online enquiry forms or other similar forms and applications to your website. Linux hosting is also compatible as far as the ecommerce features are concerned.

Conclusion

Regardless of some different areas of expertise, secured, powerful and reliable hosting services are provided by both Windows and Linux hosting platforms.

Businessmen and financial institutions can use any of these two hosting services as both of them work with ecommerce. Windows is comparatively more user friendly than Linux. But Linux has got the reputation especially for its stability and reliability

We all know that web hosting is the basis of all web sites. It helps us attract visitors, it displays what we are desperately trying to get across, and it allows us to survive in the cut throat internet world. While these are all important qualities that come with web hosting, there are many other opportunities. Dying to make extra cash? Surprisingly, web hosting can actually help with your bills. In a few simple steps, you will be on your way to a richer lifestyle.

Fortunately, there is a new trend in the web industry. Reseller Hosting, which consists of purchasing a web hosting package and reselling it for a larger price, has been making webmasters just a few cents richer. Although this sounds like a daunting task, it actually only requires a large amount of space. Once the webmaster acquires such a large server and bandwidth, he/she is able to divide it up among other people. As long as they are willing to pay a monthly fee, you will never get screwed over.

Regardless of how much money you want to make, purchasing this re-seller hosting does not cost much. For an average of $30/month, you can purchase enough space to make a profit. While all of these websites will be on a shared server, the majority of webmasters do not mind this downside. After all, not everyone can shell out thousands a month just to acquire their own dedicated server. Once you have found a few loyal customers who will not create any illegal material, you will be generating a profit every single month out of the year. Fortunately, until you stop your hosting, you will never be out of a job.

In order to sell this type of hosting, you absolutely need to network. Regrettably, there are many webmasters trying to follow the trend. For this reason alone, you should look in unpopulated areas. Try and find a website or forum that has not yet been tackled by other masses of website owners. For instance, find websites similar to your own. If you do not have one, look on webmaster-related forums such as Digital Point or Webmaster-Talk. These areas are populated with thousands of interested clients, who will be more than happy to jump on the bandwagon, if you do have a great deal.

Still desperately trying to find other ways to market? Many website owners advertise through blogs and buy text link ads. As a result, people will be more apt to find what you are offering. If this doesn't work, you could even start marketing in a local newspaper or a newsletter that goes out to professional companies who are always looking for alternatives. Nevertheless, there are plenty of consumers out there. You just need to be creative and put in the effort, in order to get anywhere.

For years web hosting has been flooding the market. However, it has just recently become a form of revenue for webmasters who just don't own their own web hosting company. It is a wonderful alternative to an additional part time job, especially if this is what you love to do. Networking with others, controlling a server, while working on your website certainly sounds like the perfect occupation.

Choose the Best Web Hosting Service

One of the most crucial decisions that most online businesses have to make is choosing the best web hosting service. With a popular or well known and reliable Internet Service Provider (ISP) you won't face many problems, however with a poor web hosting service provider it can be a nightmare.

Choosing the right kind of web hosting service can be a very daunting task at times as there are some very important features that you need to make sure of. Here you can find below what exactly to look for when choosing the best web hosting service.

Amount of web space: A web hosting service provider would usually assign you a certain amount of space on their server. You need to ensure that does it have the right amount of space for your website and your business requirements. You might want to expand your online business tomorrow and would require much more space. So it's imperative for you that the web hosting company should be able to provide you with ample of space especially if your website is rich in graphics or has video clips.

FTP access: FTP access is very crucial since it provides the ability to upload new pages. Some web hosting service providers allow you to just design your web pages with their own personal web builder. This may be useful for beginners however you need to ensure if they provide you the facility to expand later when you enhance your online business capabilities.

Degree of reliability, security and speed of access: Speed, security and reliability are extremely important for the success of any online business. While choosing a reliable web hosting service you need to ensure that this is taken care of. A site that is not available, not updated on time or is down, will lose many online visitors. If an online visitor finds your site listed on a search engine, and he tries to access it but finds it down, he is sure to move on to the next link and you lose an important customer or visitor. Even slow working websites are very frustrating. So how do you know if a hosting company is reliable or not? By word of mouth or feedback from others! If that's not possible then you can yourself try accessing your site during peak hours and non-peak hours too. Your site has to be secure of intruders at the same time, especially if it's an ecommerce website.

Dependence and support: Does the web hosting service provide 24x7 supports? Do they respond rapidly to your issue? Can you depend on them? If you need 24-hour technical support that larger companies need then expect to pay substantially more. In fact, people are much more expensive than machines.

Pricing plans : Price is also one factor that you should look out for when choosing the best web hosting service. It's not necessarily true that the most expensive hosts are the best. Simply compare prices and services before you finalize one.

Data transfer (Bandwidth): You also need to see if the hosting company provides you with sufficient bandwidth for efficient data transfer. After all it's your website and you need to ensure that you are getting the best services for the money you invest.

The list is virtually endless: .gov, .edu, .org, .tw... But do these groups of words really mean something? Or are they just part of the so-called domain name of a web address? And what are the different types and purposes of each domain name extension? This article aims to easily explain domain name extensions.

What exactly is a domain name extension? A domain name extension can be compared to an umbrella. It is defined as a part of a web address in which it is registered. All of the web addresses available in the World Wide Web can be categorized using different domain name extensions.

Domain name extensions can be categorized into various types: purpose, category, and even country of origin. The most common domain name extension is the .com or commercial organization. Throughout the whole world wide web, a large portion of web addresses have .com as their extension. Following .com as a domain name extension are the following: .net for ISPs and .org for non-profit organizations.

Due to the advent of technology, a larger proportion, if not all, of the countries has an access to the internet. Because of this, web addresses can use domain name extensions assigned to a certain country. Some of the examples are as follows:

* .fr -France
* .jp -Japan

* .aero
* .biz
* .coop
* .info
* .museum
* .name
* .pro

Yes, a lot of domain name extensions are available, and it is steadily increasing as time goes by, but rest assure that each domain name extension has a specific purpose in mind.

Purchase a Domain Name

If you do not know how internet works, you might find the process of getting a domain name to be very tedious. This might not be as hard as you think. First you need to get yourself accustomed to a few terms and understand how information is transferred over the internet.

Do you know what a URL is? Basically it stands for Uniform Resource Locator. By uniform it means that it uses the same way throughout the world to locate resources such as files or documents. Basically it is the unique address of a file or document that can be accessed over the internet.

So why you need to know what URL is? The reason is, when you first want to set a website you first need to purchase a domain name. Domain name in other words are called URL. It should be closely connected to the website that you are building. If your chosen domain is already taken up, go for something one of a kind and later promote your domain through some branding activity.

There are many domain registrars out there. GoDaddy.com is the most well known one. You can use this website to check your domain name availability. As this website normally offers vouchers it is advisable to search for 'GoDaddy coupon' before making a purchase. This can save you a few dollars up to ten dollars. The domain name you purchased will remain on GoDaddy's servers until you get hosting service for it. There are many options when comes to hosting. You can either go for the hosting service provided by your registrar or choose other providers you desire.

It is best for you to get a good idea on what hosting really is. When you purchase the URL you are actually purchasing an address or a unique name over the internet. In order to broadcast your message to the world the first thing you need to have is a virtual space to retain the information. As mentioned earlier GoDaddy as well many other company out there offers hosting. For my website I subscribe to Hostgator.com as I find their service satisfying and fulfills my requirements.

When come to hosting do not decide on snap. Take your time to analyze what you intend to achieve using the website first. If you are interested to host a simple blog for instance you do not need much space to begin with. Therefore it would be such a waste if you buy an expensive hosting plan and use only a portion of what you are entitled to. Be wise, choose a plan that best fits your requirements.

Purchasing a domain name is not as complicated as it sounds and you don't have to be an Internet whiz to purchase a domain name. So don't be afraid.

If you are planning to create more than one website make sure your hosting plan caters for it. Most of the providers support multiple domains hosting. The one I am using now allows me to host unlimited amount of domains. As I am planning to make more web pages that are going to generate a few dollars worth income per month, this fit my needs perfectly.

Last but not least, you will be given a nameserver ID through email that you will need to point your new domain to. This is because you domain registrar and hosting company are different. You can do this by accessing your domain registrar profile, navigate to domains section. Find for an option that lets you edit your nameserver. All you have to do now is to key in your nameservers and you are ready to go!

Examle of Domain Name

A domain name
, to put it simple, is your address on the World Wide Web. This is where you put up your website and it is what internet users will type in their address bar in order to locate your site while online. Your domain name should be short, simple, and easy to remember. But, one must keep in mind that domain names are only available for one individual or business. This is to maintain uniqueness and to avoid confusion among the millions of websites and internet users.

A most common example of a domain name is www.yahoo.com. The first part, the www identifies the server name of the domain. Yahoo, the second element, is the name of the company, individual or organization; and the suffix .com is the domain name extension, which identifies the purpose of the website.

The most important part of the entire domain name is the second element, which states the unique name of an individual, an organization, or a company. This is what sets it apart from all the other addresses present on the web, as some people would try to change a part of the domain name in order to direct traffic to their site instead.

Another example of a domain name is www.nasa.gov. This is the NASA website, and since it is a government office, it uses the extension dot gov. Users need to bear in mind that the domain name extensions are there for a purpose. It indicates the purpose why the website exists.

Choosing a domain name

Choosing a domain name is one of the foremost business decisions you will have to make in your quest for having your own website on the net.

What really makes a domain name stick, special and memorable?
Is it the naming or the people behind the name, what really is in a name?
I have discovered 7 easy tricks for making your domain name stick.

1. Let your domain name be easy to remember.
Let it be very simple. Add prefix or numbers to make use of the already taken names.

2. Let it contain your primary keywords. This will help for traffic generation and people can easily get to find your site when they search for that product in search engines.

3. Let your name suggest your type of product and business.
Here if you cannot use your primary keyword as part of your domain name, then use the product or service in your domain name such that it will be easy to describe your business from your name. This help to build identity.

4. Registers extensions other than .Com
Almost all words in .com are taken. But .net is fast catching up. If you build your site with SEO ranking rules, then you stand a chance to rank well.

5. Create a strong trademark through that name. trademarks are of great value to any business. They are unique to you and describe your business and stands longer in the mind of your readers.

6. Avoid using dashes in your domain names as this often will be hard to remember and most of your visitors would have type in your domain name without the dash and your traffic will be going to your competitor.

7. Choose a domain name with meaning; let your domain name speak for it self.

8. Use a name free of legal issues. There are laws which forbid using brand names owned by others as part of your domain name. e.g. Ipodsbynokia.com could be available but if used, Nokia management could file a lawsuit which could lead to waste of time and recourses.

Every single domain name is different. But some are with a difference. You can achieve this if you implement this little tips and tricks.

This high capacity SD memory card offers massive recording capacity and can easily accommodate 2000 digital songs, MPEG 4 video of 15 hours and high resolution images of more than 4000. Nowadays the users are adding more digital entrainment to their lives because as they record the video with their digital camcorder or digital still camera, they will certainly require high capacity memory cards. The recording capacity of SDHC memory card reaches up to 32 GB.

The SDHC memory cards will only work in the SDHC card slots and are not compatible with the previous SD card slots. The inclusion of USB 2.0 Micro-mate reader with the SDHC 8GB memory card has solved the problem of file sharing as the users can easily transfer their data from the memory card to their computers and vice versa. Majority of the digital camcorders and digital still cameras manufactured by the leading companies including Pentax, Sanyo, Nikon, Panasonic, Canon and Casio are SDHC compatible. The SDHC memory card format has also expanded to the cellular phones, digital music players and to other personal electronics as well, which has made the SDHC 8-GB card format a versatile tool for transferring music, images and video.

SanDisk also manufactures SDHC card with capacity of 4 GB. Both these SD memory cards have very fast reading & writing speed which results in reduced time between downloading time and camera shots during transfer of data (pictures, videos) to the computer system. Flash memory cards now require greater speed & capacity to accommodate the high quality videos and pictures. That is why SanDisk has increased the recording capability of the SD memory card and developed the SDHC card technology. SanDisk has made significant enhancement to the speed & capacity of its ultra-II SD memory card format in order to satisfy the increasing demands of digital content (pictures, video and audio).

The Intel X58 chipset

Hey everyone, this is Icarus here with some thought on the new Intel X58 chipset.

The Intel X58 chipset was released during November of 2008, and was released as a successor of X48. Now, the importance here is not just the name itself; this is a direct challenge to all of the computer hardware companies out there that have been making large amounts of money off of nVidia chipset motherboards. Now, how does this effect you, the consumer who has sparked an interest in computer hardware?

Well, here's the thing: the X58 chipset can run SLI. Yes, I just said that: it can run SLI. For those of you who don't know what SLI is, I will explain it in another article today. For now, I will just say that SLI is a program created by NVidia that allows the computer to run more than one video card at the same time.

Now, why does SLI in the X58 matter so much? Well here's the reason why: it takes away a valuable advantage NVidia chipsets had over Intel chipsets. Traditionally, Intel chipsets were only able to run Crossfire and CrossfireX, or just a single NVidia video card without SLI. NVidia chipsets, on the other hand, can only run NVidia Graphics cards(with the exception of patches for some ATI graphics cards) but can run two in SLI and even three in TriSLI. However, now that the X58 can run NVidia graphics cards(GPU's), more consumers will begin to turn to this chipset.

Now, NVidia loses more than one battle here. One of NVidia chipsets motherboards' main concerns for consumers was the price tag. The fact is, that many NVidia chipset motherboards are more expensive than the Intel chipset motherboards. However, this was justifiable because NVidia still had the SLI and TriSLI advantage over Intel chipsets. Now that the X58 chipset can run NVidia GPU's in SLI, NVidia has lost one advantage, and lots its justification for the price tags. And because most consumers only go as far as running two graphics cards in SLI, NVidia may lose a lot of loyal customers.

However, this does not mean that NVidia will fade away or go bankrupt. X58 chipset motherboards can run two graphics cards in SLI, but it cannot run three graphics cards in SLI. NVidia can; therefore, NVidia still gets to keep the enthusiast market under its arms. Another advantage NVidia still has is its apparent ability to overclock better than Intel chipsets. While this advantage may seem to be mysterious because most consumers do not know why this is so, this is still an advantage that NVidia will hold onto. Therefore, NVidia will still be able to keep most of the consumers who know how to overclock well.

AMD Motherboard

AMD has been producing motherboards for as long as it has been producing central processing units. Though somewhat obscure and focused largely on the computer needs of large businesses, AMD has emerged as the primary competitor to Intel. Both companies have been locked in a struggle for the most powerful processor on the market, and as such, both sides have produced truly phenomenal CPUs with technology far and above what was thought possible even a few years ago. AMD is generally seen as producing processors with more raw power, while Intel is known to produce processors which are less expensive or more suited to special applications.

In order to support their line of CPUs, AMD has been offering motherboards specifically designed to accommodate them. Whether produced by AMD themselves or under license by other companies, AMD motherboards are largely seen as more powerful and accommodating than those produced by Intel. While AMD still produces a large number of motherboards for the business market, AMD has looked to capitalize on the home computing and gaming market by offering both very simple, stripped-down motherboards with few features, and extremely large motherboards designed to accommodate large quantities of RAM and several graphics cards at a time. As such, AMD motherboards have become very popular among gamers, graphic designers, and other people who need very large amounts of processing power.

The highest level AMD motherboards can accommodate more RAM than current operating systems allow and can run several graphics cards and two CPUs in tandem. However, most of the AMD motherboards are much simpler and are designed to fit the budget of almost any computer builder. Since they are primarily sold to promote AMD CPUs, they are generally compatible only with AMD-brand CPUs. However, many third-party motherboards are produced so as to accommodate both AMD and Intel CPUs. The AMD-only motherboards are clearly identified as such on their packaging, and are often sold in shops as a package deal along with the CPU. In such cases, the motherboard is often sold at a deep discount or even a loss to encourage the sale of the CPU, which is what really makes money for AMD. As such, the package deals are often good when both the CPU and motherboard must be purchased and compatibility must be guaranteed.

AMD's motherboards are considered to be very reliable, however they are not cheap. AMD takes pride in the high quality construction of their first-party motherboards, and uses high quality parts. Most users will find that a third-party board works just as well and costs much less. Almost all AMD compatible motherboards on the market today offer the ability to hold at least four GB of RAM (the maximum amount recognizable by Windows XP) and have slots for graphics and sound cards, both in PCI and more advanced forms. While these motherboards usually have one or more parallel ATA ports installed, there has been a shift to serial ATA ports in recent years due to their improved performance and decreased cost. As such, it may be necessary for persons upgrading from an older model board to purchase PATA to SATA adapter cables.

Choosing Domain Name

Domain name is a very important aspect of your website, just like your name is an important aspect of your life and self esteem. Once settled, domain name can be very difficult and expensive to change because:

Website users and clients accustomed the old one.

Campaigns running are connecting to the old domain

Search engine optimization - usually involves many hours of submitting your URl to various indexes and search engines. Once you change URL you must start almost from zero.

Recreating all the incoming links to your new domain
Picking domain resembles picking location for your business. Just as you will not open a luxurious jewelry boutique in the middle of a slum , you don't want your business domain carry a name like shop-for-great-jewellery.com .

If we examine the most popular websites in the net , we won't find many with domain of more than 8 character because domain must be accessible. Accessibility is better if :

A domain is as short as possible

Domain resembles a generic word

Domain does not contain characters like "-" and " _" .

Domain does not contains complex word/number combination like open0698.com

Domain is easy to spell. For example if i told you someone go to domain site123.com most of the chances he would be able to spell it correct.

Domain doesn't resemble other website domain.

Picking a suffix is also an strategic decision. If you refer world-wide, you better buy .com domain because it is the most popular domain suffix in the world. Domains with .net are far less popular therefore you better compromise on a name but not on a suffix. If you represent non profit organization you may considers .org.

If you have a local business you better prefer local domain, like .co.uk . These domains are little more expensive but worth the money because local search engines prefer them over .com and because it gives you a better branding in your country. Large businesses that refer to many countries should consider buying multiple local domains instead of one multi language .com domain. Nevertheless, if you bought a local domain, you should consider buying .com too , in order to prevent leakage to another website.

Remember that good domain names are being taken very quickly; therefore you better precede and purchase yourself a good domain name while it is available

WHOIS Domain Name Search

Have you ever tried looking for a domain name with the use of the WHOIS domain name search? If yes, then great for you! But for those who haven't heard about the WHOIS domain name search, then you should read on for you to discover the wonder of this particular thing.

On the Internet, every domain registrar maintains a WHOIS database containing all contact information for the domains they 'host'. This WHOIS database contains information about a domain name including name server, registrar and full contact information. Internet Network Information Center (InterNIC, http://www.internic.com) maintains a central registry WHOIS database that contains only the registrar and name server information for all .com, .net and .org domains

So, when we perform a WHOIS domain name search, we are using a WHOIS tool to look up contact information for a domain name from one of these WHOIS databases on the Internet. The WHOIS database will return the registration information that is intended for domain names. The name and the contact details for the domain name holder and the domain name administrator will be presented. It is important to know that the contact information for domain names under the hands of the WHOIS domain name database may vary depending on the registrar.

WHOIS Tool

You can use the following tools to run a WHOIS domain name search:

The Use of WHOIS domain name search

1. Check Your Own Domain Name: Many experts said that it is necessary when you do a WHOIS domain name search on your own domain name, you should verify that your contact details are accurate. If you encounter errors in the domain name details, you could fix errors on your domain names by contacting your web hosting company.

2. Website Background Check: You can find out how long a website has been around, who owns it, and where that company or individual is actually located by doing a WHOISdomain name search . You will be able to spot a scam operation by comparing the information you find from the search with the information that is shown on the website. For example, if a website claims that it has been in operation for many years but your findings show that the domain name they use has just been created a week ago, you may not want to trust this website.

In some cases, you may not get any information from WHOIS domain name search if the domain name is protected by domain name protection service.

Domain Name Protection

Some web hosting companies provide domain name protection service that will help a website owner to protect his or her privacy. Domain name protection service protects website owner's identity from domain-related spams. With this service, only the domain name protection service contact information will be shown in the WHOIS domain name search. Website owner's contact information is kept completely private. The website owner still owns the domain name. He or she can cancel, sell, renew or transfer the domain.

Domain Name Generator

Here comes another innovation in the field of domain names with the emergence of the domain name generator. If you are familiar with the domain name generator, it is a general view that the domain name generator is a program that can generate the chosen domain names typically from the provided keywords and by using particular theme or domain name category.

Since the domain name generator's primary function is to generate the desired domain names, the domain name experts have considered that it is indeed a very tough task to generate domain names with the absence of a special software tool that could make the functioning of the domain name generator easier and quick. Some of the experts even considered such absence of the software as a real nightmare.

But what really is the main reason that they designed such software tool for the domain name generator?

For so many reasons, the domain name experts designed such software tool for the domain name generator with a primary purpose of providing a much flexible and private service for the domain name holders in which many of the web-based services simply cannot offer. As such, they named their software for the domain name generator as "Available Domains Pro".

Speaking of this software tool for the domain name generator, it is considered that this software is a feature-packed, convenient and fast domain name checker that locates catchy domain names for personal or business web sites and then manages them. And in terms of the domain name generator with this software, the domain name generator then can function well and give the expected outputs to the domain name consumers.

For the domain name generator's function, it is considered that for the domain name generator to generate domain names, the effort of the domain name consumers is highly needed. So to mention, the domain name consumers should feed the domain name generator with the necessary keywords and optional domain category or theme. Then, it is important to click the generate button for the domain name generator's function. After such steps, it is given that the domain name consumers should then check the resulted domain name list for or soon to expire available domains. And in terms of those soon to expire domains, it is considered that the lookup link popularity should be clicked for soon to expire domain names and asdomain name consumers they have the right to snap those domains if they are really great. And one-last strengths of the domain name generator with the software is that it can predict Domain Deletion Date, so the consumers can track domain names that delete soon.

performance dual core

Now you probably may have heard about dual-core performance among desktop computers, but it is something that is Virtually unheard of in netbook. But what are dual core processors? "Dual core" is a technical term for a processor with two integrated circuits (called "die") packaged together. Computers with dual core processors are powerful machines. You can play high definition video on them while running heavy programs. You can, for example, run an anti-virus scan while at the same time play an HD movie.

Spruce dual-core is a seven-inch netbook Raon Digital Everun Note. And if a computer with dual-core processors are expected computer Raon is a powerful device. Slim can handle many applications simultaneously, even HD video. It also comes with a touch screen, mobile internet devices (MID).

Intel Core 2 Duo Knocks Down AMD Athlon 64

Intel has regained the performance crown from AMD, after its launch of Core 2 Duo line of processors which are based on Intel’s new Core micro architecture. The processors are expected to ship by 27th July 2006. The performance Core 2 Duo is found to be superior than the AMD’s current line of processors.

Intel’s Core 2 Extreme X6800 didn’t lose a single benchmark in our comparison; not a single one. In many cases, the $183 Core 2 Duo E6300 actually outperformed Intel’s previous champ: the Pentium Extreme Edition 965. In one day, Intel has made its entire Pentium D lineup of processors obsolete. Intel’s Core 2 processors offer the sort of next-generation micro-architecture performance leap that we honestly haven’t seen from Intel since the introduction of the P6.

Compared to AMD’s Athlon 64 X2 the situation gets a lot more competitive, but AMD still doesn’t stand a chance. The Core 2 Extreme X6800, Core 2 Duo E6700 and E6600 were pretty consistently in the top 3 or 4 spots in each benchmark, with the E6600 offering better performance than AMD’s FX-62 flagship in the vast majority of benchmarks. Another way of looking at it is that Intel’s Core 2 Duo E6600 is effectively a $316 FX-62, which doesn’t sound bad at all.

We’re still waiting to get our hands on the E6400 as it may end up being the best bang for your buck, but even the slower E6300 is quite competitive with AMD’s X2 4200+ and X2 3800+. If AMD drops the price on those two parts even more than we’re expecting, then it may be able to hold on to the lower end of the performance mainstream market as the E6300 is not nearly as fast as the E6600.

For industry experts, Core 2 Duo beating the Athlon 64 processor family is no surprise: On the one hand, Core 2 Duo is a brand-new state-of-the-art processor, whereas the Athlon 64 X2 has been around for a while. On the other hand, Intel must come out with a superior product to finally beat AMD after two years of Athlon 64 headwinds.
Core 2 is an eighth-generation x86 architecture microprocessor to be produced by Intel based on an all-new CPU design called the Intel Core Microarchitecture, which will replace the NetBurst architecture that has powered Intel processors since 2000. Core 2 also will mark the retirement of Intel’s Pentium brand name that has been used from 1993 and the reunion of Intel’s notebook and desktop product lines since Pentium M was released apart from Pentium 4 in 2003.

Unlike NetBurst-based processors, such as the Pentium 4 and Pentium D, Core 2 will not stress designs based on extremely high clock speeds but rather improvements on other CPU features, including cache size and number of cores. Intel claims that the power consumption of these processors is to be extremely low compared to the Pentiums before.

Intel Core 2 processors will feature EM64T, Virtualization Technology, and Execute Disable Bit. The release will also introduce LaGrande Technology, SSE4, Enhanced SpeedStep Technology, and Active Management Technology (iAMT2).

Intel Atom Processor Notebook

If compared with other netbook such as MSI Wind U100, for example, Dell Inspiron mini 12 really looks thin. The thick is less than 1 inch, precisely 0.9 inches. In fact, the size of screen and all of the body is about 2 inches more wide than Wind U100.

Yes, Dell Inspiron mini 12 showcase is 12-inch display screen, which is still rare compared with others netbook carried by other brands.

Despite similar body-thin like Apple MacBook Air, Dell Inspiron Mini 12 does feel strong. It feels comfortable. Indeed, Dell Inspiron Mini 12 have more wider size in average compared with others netbook and can causing not being easily inserted in the handbag.

From the completeness of the features, in fact mini-12 not far differents from others netbook by other brands. Like a modern netbook, 802.11g wireless functionality is supported, 12 inch display screen. RAM, for example, are still 1GB, but unfortunately you can not upgrading the RAM.

Display Screen

12-inch display screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, of course, is the specialty of Dell Dell Inspiron Mini 12. Wide screen resolution make the use of the netbook more fun when you surf in the virtual world. Two web pages side by side can be opened and read it with quite comfortably. However, the letters look smaller, less suitable for those who have started to crash because of the vision on the old age.

Views on the screen looks very bright (too bright even on the maximum setting), and horizontal perspectives are good enough. Views can still see quite comfortable with the direction of the side. However, there are good idea to push back the screen so that the rebound effect is not felt, too.

At the top of the LCD screen, as usual, presented with a 1.3 megapixel Webcam.

Keyboard

With a more physical width compared with another netbook, not strange when the keyboard on mini 12 is also more relieved (92 percent of normal keyboard). The distance the button are wide so that makes you comfortable when typing.

Dell includes six function keys which is F11, F12, Home, Del, Insert, End which are placed on the top right side. In addition, there are 10 other function keys (F1 - F10), which also have their own features, such as Bluetooth and contrast. The Fn button is placed on the left side of the bottom..

Under the keyboard panel there are square touchpad which is also quite wide field, complete with left and right click. Touchpad is quite responsive. However, perhaps because of the wide size and the location that fit under the keyboard plus the wide of palmrest, sometimes we do not get the desired response from the touchpad which have quite fibrous surface because the cursor can move suddenly if you have small wrist.

The other different from the other vendors, Dell chose to put a speaker on the top of keyboard panel. Unfortunately, the quality of the sound is less strong despite already set up to maximum volume. However, for a netbook that is used personally and private, may have sufficient volume.

Another panel at a different location is the on / off. key When most vendors of netbook putting it on the right top side, not so with Dell. Dell prefer to put this very small on / off button on the left top side, abreast with speakers panel.

The Body

On the right side appears 3-in-1 card reader, a headphone jack, microphone jack, one USB port, and one LAN port.

The placement of the USB port are on the way back, this make less fun when you use the netbook on the knees (although this is usually not recommended because the netbook radiate enough heat) than if it is on the way forward as in most of other netbook.

On the left side there are two USB ports, VGA-out port, and for security lock (Kensington lock). Two USB ports are located in the middle of the unit, with the initial keyboard.

When you use the netbook the back of the bottom display which is close to the battery felt a bit hot. However, the keyboard and the touchpad are not affected and still comfortable to use. The bottom of the netbook was only slightly warm. Maybe because of the wide surface from this netbook plus the combination of low power processors successfully influence the spread of heat.

Processor

Mini 12 is not using the processor Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz like the others.

This netbook packaged with the Intel Atom 1.6 GHz clock speed, but in different type, that is, the Z530 (Silverthorne). This processor is designed for the smaller size devices depend with N270, the size of Silverthorne CPU nearly half (13 x 14 mm) and charged a lower consumption (2 watts vs. 2.5 watt owned N270).

Processor is a bit saggy used with Microsoft Vista as the bundle from Dell. Booting takes 1.5 - 2 seconds. The Intel GMA 500 chipset seems less suitable for gaming, including lightweight games. From the benchmark result of 3DMark 2003, the score is only 382 and failed to run 3DMark06.

The Battery

Mini 12 comes with a standard battery pack of Li-Ion 3-cell. Not included in the battery the capacity rating. However, according to Dell, the battery is able to stand up to 3 hours of use.

The claims may be true, but there are conditions that must be fulfilled. Netbook must be set first to lower the performance. This can be done easily arranged through the property of the Windows Power Options (Current Power Plan). If you want to survive your battery, you need to lower the performance by choosing Power Saver mode. However, if you need the performance you can choose High Performance that will drain the battery power more quickly or you can choose Balanced mode to balance the power of the battery and the performance.

Weight
Despite come with 12 inches wide-screen, this Mini 12 was not heavy. By default (plus 3-cell battery), the weight is only 1.268 kg. When the battery removed, the weight will be 1.1 kg.

Dell appears mature enough to prepare this netbook so comfortable and convenient to carry anywhere. For other than mild, the adapter that integrates with the cable was also light and pretty. This adapter looks similar to the phone adapter although quite large. Unfortunately only two legs, so you have to bring converter if you don't have 2 legs.

The weight of the adapter are 178 grams. If you take all, (netbook + 3-cell battery + adapter + converter), Dell Inspiron Mini 12 was still light enough with a total weight of 1.862 kg.

The advantages Dell Inspire Mini 12 is Wide screen and keyboard; thin physical; SIMcard slot; light

The disadvantages Dell Inspire Mini 12 is Mono speaker; price; SIMcard slot on the back of the battery; minimal LED indicators; RAM can not be upgraded.
